May is a wee bit crazy around here... four birthdays two sets that happen two days apart with Mother's Day thrown in the mix... we sometimes feel a little pushed and pulled when it comes to May, by June everyone is a little over the celebrating. This year, we're trying to do a bit better. After hearing one May birthday celebrant (ok, outing him...Rob) say about his birthday, "It's just another day, the smaller the deal the better," I got a little weepy, a little cranky, offered to celebrate mine in June, pouted a bit, then came to the realization that what I'm really hankering for are some joyful moments without the crazy rush and hectic break neck pace that become our weekends in May. Luckily, we have a lot to celebrate each day, so these small, understated moments of celebration over the next few weeks will be especially sweet this year. We're reclaiming this month and enjoying little bits of celebrations, here, there and everywhere. I like it.
In the midst of my birthday crisis, I received an envelope from Anthropologie... also known as a store I walk in to and think, "Yes, I'd like one of everything or you know, to live here... if they allowed dogs and Robs." As an Anthro card holder (free!), I get a little discount card each year to use within the month of my birthday... May, naturally. It caught me by surprise and is always a little sweet, just a reminder that it really is in the little things... and what is better, really, than a whole month of celebrating in whatever way we really love. Small ways. Unexpected ways. Grateful ways. Happy May to you... feel like understated celebrating with us?
