Cutting Board from Stonewood Basics Etsy Shop
This is a truly special edition of Etsy finds this weekend... introducing Stonewood Basics! Rob's mom makes some incredibly wonderful and amazing things (including Rob, of course) and recently opened up an Etsy shop to bring those beautifully handcrafted things to others. I'm so thrilled that she's able to share the products of a hobby she loves and a natural talent she has with so many. A talented sewist, I've always been impressed with her ability to sew up a little dress or animal without patterns... she just jumps right in and the results are beautiful, as you will see.
Connie and her husband Chip have an amazing home in Massachusetts, you've seen pictures of their barn and animals here, we cut wood for the winter there (not as often as we should!) and love spending time in their home. Connie has an exceptional eye when it comes to saving pieces of wood for her projects... which is no small feat when one has two (Rob and Chip) men intent on stacking and saving anything that isn't nailed down for the winter. Each piece is poured over by her careful eye, looking for interesting and beautiful grains, lovely knots and rings and often... inspiration to strike. Recently, Stonewood Camp purchased a wood planer and we had some fun with that on Rob's birthday (pictures to come soon).
Not only is Connie talented with woodcraft but she also sews the most amazing dolls and figures. Her style is distincly primitive and her works are really pieces of folk art. Her eye to detail is just really amazing. So here are a few favorites from Stonewood Basics Etsy Shop...
