Picture of Anna Maria Horner's booth from the 2009 Fall Quilt Market from Pink Chalk Studio
This week as I was drooling over images from this Fall's Quilt Market in Houston, my loving significant other asked "And why didn't you drag me there?" He jests, but I would kill to have the opportunity to go. Sadly, the Quilt Market is only open to venders and lucky people. If you're looking for some amazing images from the Quilt Market, go here and here and here. They went... they blogged. A girl can dream.
Some of the most stunning images from the Quilt Market have come from those that passed by the bohemian color explosion that was Anna Maria Horner's booth. I love how Anna Maria creates fabrics that have a vintage feel but a completely new twist on old favorites - they feel exceptionally homey but yet totally modern. I'm loving that patchwork quilt... loving, loving, loving and am going to go with something similar for the bedroom quilt which is (still) in the works. How great are those sideways blocks and half triangle edges? The quilt above was made with Anna Maria's new Little Folks line, which yes, I've blogged about in the past. Prepare to drool... and if you're afraid your significant other will blow her monthly budget on these lovelies look away...
I love that some fabric yardage is the new collections can be cut to use as shown in the quilt above. Those flowered squares can be used as continuous yardage or cut up to create that amazingly vintage look. Love that.
All of Anna Maria Horner's fabric can be used for patchwork-y goodness. I happened upon her first line, Bohemian far too late but was lucky to score a very, very small bit recently from a seller on Etsy. When the fabric arrived, I was delighted of course, but a little sad. The fabric is incredibly hard to find. I recently discovered a little online shop fabric in England selling the out of print fabric for under 3 pounds a yard - or less than $5... score! So I purchased a very, very small bit to be rationed of course, but to show up on very special occasions - like new patchwork place mats and a table runner for the Mehl-Amenta Thanksgiving this year. On their way from across the pond are...Besides finding happiness in color both fabric and fall leaf varieties I've also been finding moments of happiness thinking about the impending new car that will eventually be coming to our household. The annoyance of my car in its last throws have been replaced with thoughts of dependability and a car that doesn't spin out on the smallest bit of snow. So my hope for you is that the little things are making you smile this weekend, and you are enjoying inspiration when it finds you.
