Patchwork coin rows for the Thanksgiving (aka, don't spill on that) place-mats
Little bits of fabric have become my absolute favorite lately... not only are they heaven to work with (have I mentioned I hate cutting fabric?), they're also much nicer to my "about to have a car payment" wallet. So little bits of fabric are becoming my purchases of choice... and there have been some new little additions to my fabric stash. Good news is that I'm making my way through them am actually using said fabric. So here's a look at some fabric and a little of what is evolving from them...
A few fat quarters (1/4 a yard for those of us here to see Rob working on the house) bought on Etsy
Some work that was done using those very fabrics...

Just one of the six place-mats made...
I can't tell you how easy it was to make these place-mats...well, actually I can. I used this fantastic tutorial by the way, but of course, changed some things. I used more than the recommended five kinds of fabric and I also used smaller seam allowances because I liked it better. I cut strips of fabric 2.5'' by 4'' played around with the placement of them, pieced them together, added linen, heavy weight interfacing and backed them with chocolate brown cotton solid fabric that I had just enough of. The linen was left-over from my mother's fabric basket. Voila. I hem and haw as to the addition of a decorative stitch on top (using my new walking foot!) or if I like the simplicity of them as is. I have some time to decide so I wait.
Some Etsy finds... love these little mushrooms...

Some Wee Play for a quilt in the works...
Happy Camper for the same quilt, finally being used.
Sneak peek and I heart Jelly Rolls...
So as Thanksgiving approaches bringing with it the promise of Christmas and our as promised handmade Christmas, I have quite a few projects in the works. I'd love to make a patchwork tree skirt for our Christmas tree this year... I have two quilts that I'd love to make for loved ones, I would love to make a baby quilt for a cousin's new arrival... and I'd love a few extra hours in the day to make that happen. But in the mean-time, I'm going to enjoy every little bit of the time spent crafting these little projects and every little bit of moments like this one... Happy Tuesday!
