Our first snow came today... what should have been a moment of celebration and excitement was instead marred by simply the worst day. Ever. I mean it. Strangeness at work (student bizarre behavior mixed with a dash of enablement and disrespect) was followed by strangeness on my ride home when my car (which granted, has many issues... lack of AC, and more recently defrost/defogging capabilities to name a few) suddenly decided to smoke uncontrollably. I say smoke because it appeared kind of like smoke, but didn't smell... strange and very anti-freezy - my throat and nose still sense it's wispy presence. Two panicked and slightly insane calls later to my calm-in-the-storm and said car is being towed to our friend's garage for a look-see. The friend I called on his vacation to Disney in Florida... moments before taking his daughter to have dinner with Cinderella. Guilt, guilt, guilt.
After that, the world's sweetest man, formerly known as calm-in-the-storm arrived to provide a ride home, emotional stability and hugs while I chattered and got soaked in the very wet snow. The first snow. The tow truck man then called to say that he needed a security code to run my charge for the tow or he would promptly impound my car. The world's sweetest man steps in again to save the day... no security code needed. So as I sit here, snuggled up with loves and next to a fire, contemplating how undeniable a new car really is, I'm so happy that on days like this, when life takes a turn for the absolute worst and looks like the above, I'm sitting in the passenger seat, enjoying life's ride with a man who holds you close before allowing you to call AAA, asks the tow man to dump the car in the river when he has a second and seemingly doesn't mind hysterical screaming when you can't see to pull over on the side of the road... he loves me that much. Hope your day was even the slightest bit better than mine and that it was decidedly free of anti-freeze lung. My hope is that you allow yourself, regardless of the situation to enjoy and celebrate the little moments of the day. Have a safe and celebratory end to the week...
